Time and Frequency Synchronization for OTFS

In this letter, we propose timing offset (TO) and carrier frequency (CFO) estimators for orthogonal time space modulation (OTFS). The proposed do not require any additional training overheads as they deploy the same pilot signal that is used channel estimation. Hence, no overhead required synchronization, thanks to periodic properties of in delay-time domain. Our TO estimator finds start each OTFS block by searching a sequence delay dimensions. CFO then estimated finding mean angles two-dimensional correlation function at best instant. As novel aspect these estimators, multipath diversity exploited achieve high estimation accuracy. Finally, show efficacy our synchronization techniques through extensive simulations.
